FOOD FOR HOMELESS AND POOR PEOPLE
Bharat Samartha Trust underprivileged children and poor families, struggling for their lives on a daily basis. Here, one can easily find many reckless boys and a few men, already drunk. Clearly, this place is full of unfortunate road dwellers with hardly or no edibles to eat.
We had a mission, roaming with us to find the poverty-stricken people and distribute quality food to them. And so, the moment we walked out of the Bharat Samartha Trust with several packets of fast foods, nutritious vegetables, and rice plates, an influx of poor people, living near the roadside inundated us. We gave away umpteen packets of chips and biscuits along with a separate plate of delectable food to them. For the babies, our team distributed milk bottles and packets with tasty chocolate cookies.
CLOTHS , BLANKETS FOR POOR AND HOMELESS PEOPLE
A child covered with a thin piece of cloth is crying as her mother desperately tries to beg for food on the streets – they haven’t eaten in a few days now, barring the two slices of bread someone generously gave them. The mother is worried. Winter is here, and she has no way to protect her only child. She barely survived the last winter on the streets – will she make it this time?
This is the story of millions of people in India who call the streets their home. Winter months are especially dreaded as the unforgiving cold leaves them helpless with no shelter or warm clothes. However, we can make a difference this winter by joining hands and giving winter clothes and blankets to those in need.
BOOKS AND FEES FOR POOR PEOPLE
Bharat Samartha Trust runs a book bank wherein around 400 students of Junior and Degree colleges receive entire set of text books free for one year against a refundable deposit of 200. When the books are returned at the end of the year, they are issued to the next batch of needy students.
When there is a change in the syllabus of HSC or Degree College, or if the books get lost or worn out due to overuse, then new set of text books are bought for the book bank. The annual cost of maintaining the book bank is around 150,000. There is also scope for expanding the reach of the book bank to a larger number of needy students.
